SHORT WRITEUPS
It goes without saying that all human beings want to be successful and thereby become happy. How many of us become successful and become happy? what is the reason for this?

Firstly, we must understand that success depends upon our performance and not upon our knowledge. Performance is directly connected to society which decides whether we are worthy or not. So, when the society becomes of convinced the worthiness of the Individual, it acknowledges it by attesting his performance which leads him to success. This is true in all walks of life, viz Marital Life, Family relation, Social interactions, and Career path, we have been working hard to become successful because we have seen people getting the benefit of hard work in some of the areas such as study and business, but it is limited to some areas of life which doesn't guarantee happiness.

If we analyze the cause of our failures and unhappiness, we can definitely realize that it is the lack of the Right Attitude which resulted in the failures, namely Flexibility and Adaptability. In this context, it is wise to understand that change is the only permanent thing in the Universe: our bodies are changing, nature is changing and so our Attitudes-Mind sets should also change by adapting to (Changing) circumstances.

If we learn to practice this way of our performance in Marital, social, work and play I can assure that we will become successful in life and always become happy.

Always remember that the Right attitude is the harbinger of success and happiness.

Yeh Hai Mumbai Meri Jaan   By Manzoor Ebrahim - Sept 2019 Issue

Of all the cities I lived in, I liked Mumbai the most. Even though my stay in that city lasted only for four years; I had the best days of my career in Mumbai office. Many interesting incidents happened during those years, but the one which is still fresh in my memory is a robbery.

I was robbed on the street in broad daylight. It happened in 2002. I was staying in our staff quarters at Mumbai Central (Byculla) and used to commute daily by bus (No.66). That was a Saturday afternoon. I was coming back home from the office. As the bus reached the Opera House junction, it broke down. I got down and started walking towards Mumbai central. As I reached the junction, a well-dressed person appeared in front of me. I was stunned to see him suddenly. He whispered, “You give me the money you have in your purse. Don’t try to be smart. You are surrounded by my men’.  I was confused and became blank. Out of fear and anxiety, I confessed that I had only two hundred rupees in my pocket. He asked me to give him whatever I had. I opened my purse and took out the entire amount ( 10 pieces of Rs.20 notes). He took it and returned twenty rupees and told me, “Yeh hum choron ka husool hai’. He disappeared within seconds. Really a robber with principles! When I reached home and narrated this to my wife, she sang-

“Zara hattke zara bachke yeh hai Bombay meri jaan”

The road at the north leads to Kochi backwaters, south to the road to Ernakulam, west leading to Fort Kochi and east to Mattancherry bazaar, Jews street, and Jew town. It is a lively junction with many shops

It is a cosmopolitan area, where you can find people from different communities like Hindus (Brahmins and non-Brahmins), Muslims, Cutchi Memon Muslims, Christians, Gujarati, Jains, Konkani, Jews, and Anglo Indians living together. During my childhood, this junction will become livelier be-tween 9 and 12 in the night. After all the shops were closed by nine (except hotels), the residents assembled there with some special people who started entertaining them. The special people included one Ummer. He was called "Kallukudian ummer" because the words came out from his mouth were not clear and he had some physical disorder and was also mentally weak; two Gujarat brothers who were blind and homeless, they always walked together; one Rajasthani who had some mental problems and a Muslim lady who was blind was seen always together with another lady to assist her. They would start sing-ing, dancing and cracking jokes. We would enjoy these programs through the windows of our house. We were staying on the first floor of the building. On the ground floor there was a hotel run by Mr. Kayee (now it is a famous hotel in Kochi with the name “Kayees- Rahmathulla Hotel”)Those days there were very few motor vehicles in that area and the mode of conveyance was rickshaws and cycle rickshaws, and at that time long lines of cy-cle rickshaws were parked on the side waiting for passengers. (Today we can see auto-rickshaws in its place.) Now this area is considered a tourist spot. The specialty of this is that within a radius of ½ kilometer there are temples, churches, mosques, and synagogue. While living here I never had the feeling that I belonged to a particular community.

Once NATHAM COMPANY JUNCTION then LOBO JUNCTION now KAYEE JUNCTION. “What is in a name, by any other name, this junction will reverberate the same.”
Seelat Buildings – this is the place where I was born and was brought up. It is situated on the northern side of West Kochi. It is at a junction (nukkad) called the new road junction or Natham company junction.

Kudos to our young scientist
Mr.Nishad Wazeem.

IIT Madras researchers have found a simpler method to produce graphene platelets from graphite. The researchers have found that when graphite is suspended in an appropriate fluid and subjected to intense shearing force of machining, the layers of graphite separate into graphene platelets.

The Research was led by Dr. Sathyan Subbiah, Associate Professor, Department of Mechanical Engi-neering, IIT Madras and his research student Mr. Wazeem Nishad. Their work was also published in the reputed pre-reviewed international journal Manufacturing Letters. "Graphene is considered a super material of the century", says Dr. Subbiah

Wazeem Nishad is from Kollam, son of Mrs.Fathima (Anitha) and Mr. Nishad Sait. Insha Allah there will be an interview with Mr.Wazeem Nishad in our next issue, which we are sure will be interesting and educative. I will request all our youngsters not to miss it.
